Red-eyed tree frogs are possibly the most beautiful of all the rainforest amphibians with their striking red eyes and colourful legs. These little creatures are fantastic climbers with their suction-pad-like toes. They even have a wet mucous that comes out of their feet and enables them to cling to virtually any surface!
Frogs have survived on earth for a 100 million years, although many have evolved and others have become extinct, but the red-eyed tree frog has remained mostly unchanged for the past 10 million years. Quite an achievement!
Being green helps these little frogs blend in with the tree leaves. If spotted by a predator, as they rush to get away they reveal their brightly coloured legs & eyes - this flash of colour can confuse the predator and give the frog a precious split-second to get away.

"I’ve always loved animals & have been drawing them as far back as I can recall, dragging wildlife encyclopedias around with me as a small child.
Rediscovering this passion as an adult brings me full circle & I love the fact that I’m able to keep the entire process in-house.
From a simple sketch I can bring the animal to life with the use of stitch types, angles & thread colour choices - embroidery digitizing is an art in itself & I absolutely love doing this part of the process.
With each design I try to capture the spirit of the animal and I hope you can feel this too."
